Sometimes Bug will sit down at her little picnic table, point up to where the coloring materials are kept, and pat her chest (sign for "please") while whimpering. She'll scribble elaborate scribbles on the paper, her table, and her clothes. She'll sometimes also try to taste the crayons. She's already bitten the top off on one of the invisible markers.
One night I was hosting a small dinner party, and was just a little stressed that Bug refused to take a second nap so that I could get cleaned up and dinner finished. Allowing her to bang on pots with metal spoons was only making me feel worse, so I grabbed her crayons and a piece of paper.
Dinner got finished, and Bug presented me with this most amazing work of art, which WILL be framed and hung prominently as a constant reminder that I GOT DINNER FINISHED without completely freaking out and with Bug's complete cooperation (and no eaten crayon).

I also ended up with this, which isn't a bad thing because the crayons are washable.
